Here at Ashley Vet Centre we love helping you provide the best care possible for your furry friends, no matter how tiny.

Small mammals are very popular children’s pets but they can also be great for adults especially if you live in a flat or are out at work all day. Small furries can make excellent pets for the whole family, and with the right nutrition and environment they can live a long and healthy life.

There is such a variety from guinea pigs and chinchillas to rats, hamsters and gerbils and many more unusual species.

Each species has a unique set of behaviours, nutritional needs, and even different times when they prefer to be social! They all have their own different requirements for feeding and housing so make sure to read up or call us before you buy one.

We recommend that you bring them in to see us for a check up as soon as possible after you get your new pet so we can give them a health check and talk to you about the best way to care for them. We are always here to help with any advice you may need.
